The first ever Australian Open Belly Dance Competition will take place in Adelaide, SA on 20 October 2018.

The competition is to promote the beauty of Oriental dance, as seen in the Middle East today. This includes Egyptian, Lebanese and Turkish oriental (raqs sharqi), and traditional folkloric dances from North Africa and the Middle East.
The competition is therefore not open for tribal styles and fusions.

The competition also aims to help dancers improve themselves by giving them the opportunity to perform on a professional stage, and getting valuable feedback from a panel of five judges.

Additionally, the competition wishes to create more interest for belly dance in Australia, hopefully gaining new dancers into our belly community.
